  • Styes and eyelid infections

Insurance

Medical visits are usually billed to medical insurance

When you see us for an eye problem, such as an infection, injury, diabetes or glaucoma, the visit is generally billed to your medical insurance instead of your vision plan. We accept Medicare, BCBS and Aetna, along with VSP, EyeMed and Spectera for routine care.

We also accept FSA and HSA cards and CareCredit. How vision and medical insurance differ.

Common Questions

Medical eye care questions

Can I see an optometrist for pink eye or a red eye?

Yes. Optometrists diagnose and treat most red eye problems, including pink eye, allergies, styes, scratches and dry eye, and can prescribe eye drops when needed. Call us and we'll do our best to see you the same day.

What counts as an eye emergency?

Call us right away for sudden vision loss, new flashes of light or a shower of floaters, a curtain over your vision, eye pain, chemical exposure or an eye injury. For a severe injury or chemical burn after hours, go to the nearest emergency room.

Will my medical insurance cover a red eye or diabetic eye visit?

Usually, yes. Visits for a medical problem are typically billed to your medical insurance, such as Medicare, BCBS or Aetna, rather than your vision plan.

Do you treat glaucoma and macular degeneration?

We screen for and monitor both, using eye pressure checks and retinal imaging to track changes over time. When surgery or a specialist's care is needed, we coordinate with trusted ophthalmologists in the Valley.
