Your First Visit

What is a comprehensive eye exam?

Your first visit includes a full assessment of your vision and eye health — checking visual acuity, eye muscle coordination, intraocular pressure, and the health of the front and back of the eye. It's the most reliable way to catch conditions like glaucoma, cataracts or early diabetic eye disease before you notice symptoms, and to make sure your prescription is exactly right.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card (if applicable)
  • Current glasses and/or contact lenses
  • List of current medications
  • Previous eye doctor's contact info, if switching providers

Your exam may include Optomap retinal imaging, a quick, comfortable scan of the back of the eye. What's included in an eye exam.
